Students in Threen NS have participated in lessons on Internet Safety from the Webwise Programme. We are aware of what a wonderful resource the internet is but also what a dangerous place it can be.
Well done to all the senior room students who did a fantastic job on their projects. A huge amount of time and effort was put in to creating them. All the students had great confidence presenting them also. Thanks to all the parents who made the effort to come to school and see the wonderful work! It was lovely to have so many parents come in to visit and show their appreciation for all the hard work.
Today all children had a guest speaker in their classroom talking about the promotion of well-being and speaking about their feelings. In addition, they participated in mindful listening and mindful movement activities. It was a very worthwhile session and we learned a lot from it. After school, teachers had an informative session and some staff training also.
Eight of our students participated in the Credit Union Quiz. Well done to Noreen, Megan, Eddie and Zoe on the under 11 team, and to Daniel, Elisha , Alan and Robert on the under 13 team.
Students participated in drama workshops which were very enjoyable. A variety of topics were covered including drama games, warm-up exercises, role play, improvisation, script reading, presentation skills and speaking and pronunciation and acting skills.
All our students produced a piece of art for the school calendar. It is on sale in school. Thanks to all parents and families who have supported this venture.
Well done to all our students who performed their Christmas Play on stage in the Trinity Arts Centre, in Castlerea in December. All students from the school were involved and all their hard work paid off. They put on a wonderful performance. Thanks to all staff and parents who helped out.

Our school has been chosen to participate in an Action Research Wellbeing Project, run by the Department of Education. We are one of 20 primary schools throughout Ireland who have been selected to take part in this exciting project. Over the coming months, we will be participating in staff training, students will have the opportunity to learn more about wellbeing and parents will be invited to complete a survey to help us get your opinions.

At the core of the Pushkin Trust’s work is the Schools’ Programme which is a cross-curricular, cross-community and cross-border project. Students from the Senior room will be participating in a wonderful project entitled “The Spark of Stillness” between now and June. They will be undertaking lots of activities based around their interpretation of the theme, including focused classroom lessons and some guided workshops presented by facilitators in the Spring term. The work will be a mixture of environmental lessons, and the arts- including music, art, drama, mindfulness and creative writing. http://www.pushkintrust.com/about/what-we-do/
We are very lucky to have the opportunity to participate in this programme.
