We celebrated Grandparent’s Day on 25th April with a beautiful prayer service celebrated by Fr. John. We were delighted to welcome over 30 grandparents on the day. We shared a special prayer for the grandparents who couldn’t be with us on the day and remembered especially the ones who have gone to heaven.
The children put on a wonderful display of songs, dance, poetry and music and it is fair to say the grandparents were thoroughly entertained. We finished off with a very welcome cup of tea and home baked snacks compliments of our very generous parents and grandparents.
Sincere thanks to all the grandparents who came to share in our celebration and remind the children how lucky they are to have (or have had) such wonderful people in their lives to love and support them. Huge thanks also to the parents who helped us out on the day and to all those who sent in tasty treats. As always, the school is sincerely grateful to Fr. John for his generosity of spirit in giving his time to help us with this celebration. Lastly to the wonderful staff and children of Threen School, you made this day very special indeed, thank you.
Students and families were extremely generous gifting beautifully filled shoe-boxes for children less fortunate than themselves. Everyone made such a great effort and the children who receive the boxes will no doubt get great joy from them. Thanks to everyone who supported this appeal. Your support is really appreciated.
Sports day was a fun day for all our students. They participated in a selection of GAA activities, orienteering, a variety of different individual and team races, basketball, parachute games and an obstacle course. Everyone was presented with a medal for participation and enjoyed ice cream and biscuits to end the day. Thank you to the teachers and SNA for all their help.
All of students were presented with a special award certificate which reflected their achievements, skills or talents this year. In addition, there were prizes for improvement in Maths and English and an overall Spirit of the School Award.
Congratulations to all those who participated in the Community Games Competitions. We were lucky to have prize winners in a number of categories in the Art and Handwriting competitions.
Well done to all students for their participation in the end of year school Mass, the readings, prayers, offertory and the beautiful singing. Thank you to Fr Kevin who gave a lovely sermon about the importance of saying “Thank You”. We were delighted that so many parents and grandparents could come to celebrate this Mass with us.
On 24th June, we had a very exciting day out for our annual school tour! The children got to experience a variety of different land based and water based activities. Everyone had great fun and really enjoyed themselves. We definitely have some contenders for Ireland’s Fittest Families in the future.
