A Walk in Candlefield Community Forest

We had the opportunity to go for a walk in an emerging native woodland close to our school. The students loved running around in the forest and learning about the native trees which are growing there. Our lovely guide, Niamh, was very helpful and provided us with lots of interesting information. The forest walk was a lovely addition to our our Active Week activities.

Girls 7 aside football

Our senior girls played 3 matches in a football blitz which took place in Eire Og GAA club, Loughglynn on 3rd April 2019. They played against teams from Granlahan NS, Cloonbonniffe NS and Loughlynn NS. They played really well in very difficult cold, wet and windy weather conditions. They put in a huge effort even when they were cold and wet. Well done to all involved and thanks to the parents who came to support the girls.

National Tree Week

We were lucky to receive 8 saplings from the Tree Council as part of National Tree Week. We will plant these trees this week and look forward to watching them grow over the coming years.

Congratulations to our 6th class students who made their Confirmation on Sunday 7th May. May they be filled with the gifts and the fruits of the Holy Spirit. Hope they had a wonderful day with their families.

5 Star Fun at GAA

We were lucky to have a morning of GAA training from two enthusiastic GAA coaches. All students from the school participated in learning new ball techniques and practicing fundamental movement skills, as well as having lots of fun and getting exercise. They learned some new games and skills which they really enjoyed.

Hand Knit Chickens Fundraiser

Our students donated very generously to the work of Missionaries in Brazil, South Africa and India.

Sr. Breege visited the school with hand-made knitted chicks filled with mini Easter eggs. The children were delighted to hear about the work abroad and were happy to buy the eggs and chicks to support this worthy cause.
