Aistear- At the Airport

Continuing on from our summer holidays, some children in Threen N.S were busy getting flights to different countries. Our theme for September was The Airport.
The children were very happy to be packing their suitcases again. They arrived in the airport in lots of time before their flight and checked their flight number and time which was on display. The airport can be a very busy place. They then collected their tickets and passports before heading through security and boarding their flights to Paris, London and America with the pilot and cabin crew.
We built International Airports with many runways using Magnetics. There may even be some engineers in the making in Threen N.S. The We made our very own personal passports in construction. We felt very grown up! We also designed paper aeroplanes and tested them out.

For games we made sure to Get Hubby Home as he was lost on his journey. We were great at taking turns!

Discovery Science

This year the children will participate in the Discover Primary Science and Maths Programme. DPSM is part of Science Foundation Ireland Education and Public Engagement Programme, which aims to increase interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) among students, teachers and members of the public.

DPSM originated in 2003 with the aim of introducing primary school students to science in a practical, hands-on, enjoyable and interactive way. Since 2010 the programme has been run in conjunction with the European Space Education Resource Office (ESERO) Ireland which uses space to inspire and engage young people in science and technology in the world around them.

We look forward to taking part!
